My grandfather won a lot of contests from the beginning of the 1930’s to the first half of the 1960’s.
If the prices involved money he invested it in photographic materials like chemicals, photographic paper and films. Those were quite costly in those days.


The picture above shows an overview of some of the medals he won. These contests were organized by all sorts of businesses, clubs, municipalities and foundations.
Some of them having nothing to do with photography, like the shipping union, a daily paper, a trade association or a zoo. The themes of the contest were, of course, related to their businesses.
